Three weeks into our travels we had logged on over 3500 miles and had not made it south or west of New York. After performing some basic mathematical equations, we determined that continuing our travels at this rate, we would make it around the world by July of 2055 (bear in mind that our math skills are a bit rusty to say the least). With our bellies full and the map wide open, it was time to satisfy some more of that wanderlust. We said our last good-byes to family and friends and headed south.

After two months on the road, we had grown accustomed to eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sleeping in the tent / car and taking showers every fourth or fifth day. Basically, we were hungry, tired and stinky, or just stinking hungry. As a side note, a diet rich in raisins, apples, shredded wheat and lentil soup is, perhaps, not the wisest decision when you are confined to the tight quarters of an automobile with another person for twelve hours a day. At the moment [November 19, 2005], we are in Moab, Utah, nestled between two beautiful national parks, Arches and Canyonlands. This place is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. It offers everything from hiking, biking and sightseeing to rock climbing, rafting, and skydiving. It has served us quite well to spend some time outside of the car, stretching our legs along the stunning trails in the canyons and filling our lungs with some fresh air.
